Paul is married to Alison Taylor (see above).
Rachel is married to Adam (40).  Prior to meeting Adam, Rachel had one child, Brittany (25).  
Rachel and Adam have three children: Cooper (12), Kylie (10), and Jessica (8).
Brittany has two children: Kyra (5) and James (4).

Adam was involved in a cycling accident and sustained a severe brain injury 3 years ago.  He has severe communication and mobility difficulties.
Brittany’s two children have developmental delays and she relies upon her mother Rachel for support and assistance with her children.  Brittany has not maintained a relationship with her children’s father.

Assessment Scenario 1- Vaccination

You are a health care professional supporting Alison and Paul, who have been having difficulty coping with the stress involved in caring for their daughter Sarah because of her compromised immune system and frequent illnesses.

Alison is particularly concerned about Sarah contracting measles and/or whooping cough.  She is concerned enough to ask that Emily, John, and their two children Jessica and Paul have no contact with either Sarah or Blake, as Jessica and Paul have not been vaccinated.

Alison has told you that Emily is anti-vaccination because she believes this caused her brother Edward’s autism.  She refuses to have her own children Jessica and Paul vaccinated because of this belief.  Alison has asked you for information about the safety of vaccination and its association with autism, to help her persuade Emily to change her mind and have Jessica and Paul vaccinated.
