Aim of this assessment
This assessment are aimed mainly at helping you develop your written communication skills and oral presentation. The capacity to research topics and present not only in a written format but be able to present key points concisely in a short verbal presentation is an important professional skill that is valued by employers.
Students are required to study, undertake research, analyse and conduct academic work to the given instructions in the areas of financial management covered in learning materials from weeks
1 to 9 inclusive.
Group Limit
In a group of no more than 2 students, you will be required to research in a group and present individually (as detailed in parts 1 and 2 below) on specific topics as assigned by your lecturer.

There are 2 parts to this assessment :
Part 1 (5%); A Group Research Report
The research report can be on any ONE of the following topics as stated below and assigned by your lecturer:
 The Group Research Report should contain no more than 1000 words, excluding references.
 Submission via via Turn-it-in on Moodle and strict adherence to submission and uploading rules to be followed.
 All references and examples must be within an Australian context.
 Groups limited to 2 persons within the same class.
 

Assignment Topics
Topic 1 Explain the relationship between risk and return.
Topic 2 Explain how the general dividend valuation model values a share.
Topic 3 Explain, compare and contrast the various capital budgeting methods such as the Net
Present Value Method, the Payback Period, the Accounting Rate of Return and the Internal
Rate of Return.

Topic 4 Discuss the two Modigliani and Miller propositions and the key assumptions underlying them and their relevance to capital structure decisions.

 

Part 2 (10%): Oral Individual Video Presentation
Each member of the group are required to submit an Individual Oral Video Presentation for the same topic allocated in Group Research Report :
 A uTube video URL link submission is compulsory, failure to do so will result in a reduction of 50% of marks obtained for the Research Report in Part 1.
 Each student must be visible in the video at all times for authentication purposes.
 No more than 10 power points slides per submission (if being used) and refrain from reading from the slides
 The video should not be longer than 8 to 10 minutes in duration.
 Refer to Moodle for instruction on how create a uTube video and how to upload URL link on Moodle.
