1. Introduction
Adelaide Trams has been operational since 1878 and is run by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT). DIT services include buses, trains and trams throughout the metropolitan area (Adelaide metro 2021). Adelaide Metro Operations (AMO) is the Tram Services division and this has been contracted out to UGL Limited and John Holland Group as a joint venture to run over an 8-year period.
AMO employs 150 staff, with 91 staff being drivers, 20 being maintenance and infrastructure maintenance and the remaining 39 staff working in support functions.
AMO commences their contract on 5 th July 2020. Having only commenced operation 9 months ago there is still some tweaking within the budget to ensure we are fully equipped in all areas to run efficiently.
Type of Budget
For the purpose of this report, the operating budget was discussed and used as a talking point. The forecast of projected income and expenses along with its analysis over the course of a month are AMO’s standard budget cycle for operating costs. The Operating budget includes, labour cost, which include salaries and wages, traingin and development and oncosts (payroll tax etc), purchasing of rollingstock, running costs of the plant. This provides a clear picture of performance and overspending
